My musical trip to Brazil – Carnival in Pernambuco 2017

‘Night of the Silent Drums – plunging their roots in the colonial history of Brazil, the carnivals of Olinda and Recife pay a moving homage to the victims of the slave trade during the Noite dos Tambores Silenciosos, a night of celebration, processions and music with the most important Maracatu groups in the region gathering and celebrating their Afro identity in the midst of Carnival.’

I had the honor and big pleasure of joining one of these great Maracatu bands in Olinda “Maracatu Badia” and playing together during the Carnival on the Atlantic coast of Brazil 2017. This trip was a great musical and cultural adventure, something I have never experienced before. And it was probably the first time that I experienced such different shades of life prospects there.
